Five solution areas. One platform underneath.

AverFirst is being built as one platform with five solution areas on top of it. Every area shares the same sign-in, access model, audit trail and evidence, so a signal in one informs the others. This page sets out the problem each area addresses, our approach and its scope.

Where we are: the platform foundation — identity with mandatory multi-factor sign-in, access control and the audit trail — is live. The solution areas below are being designed and built in stages; none is offered for sale yet.

Payment Assurance

Know that payments work — before the people paying find out they do not.

The problem

A payment flow breaks in ways no single team sees: a routing change at an acquirer, an authentication setting on one card range, a timeout that appears only under load. Too often the first to notice is a cardholder whose payment failed.

Our approach

Exercise the flow the way a cardholder does, continuously, with synthetic transactions, and compare every result with what should have happened. A failure becomes a finding with its evidence, not a complaint to investigate.

In scope

  • Synthetic Visa and Mastercard transactions across authorisation, 3-D Secure, capture and refund paths
  • Scheduled monitoring of acceptance by merchant, region and card type
  • Stress tests that show how a flow behaves before peak traffic does
  • A record of every run: what was sent, what came back, and how long it took

Merchant Risk

See what merchants actually do, not only what they declared.

The problem

Transaction laundering hides one business’s payments behind another’s merchant account. Boarding checks see a merchant as it presented itself on the day; what it sells a month later is a different question.

Our approach

Look at merchant behaviour over time — websites, content, transaction patterns, changes — and raise what no longer matches the profile that was boarded, with the evidence to act on it.

In scope

  • Detection of transaction-laundering patterns across a merchant portfolio
  • Continuous monitoring of merchant websites and what they offer
  • Alerts when a merchant drifts from its boarding profile
  • Case evidence for review, escalation and offboarding decisions

Cybersecurity

See the estate from the outside, the way an attacker does.

The problem

Payment infrastructure spans data centres, APIs and several clouds, owned by different teams and vendors. Attackers look at all of it at once, from the outside; most programmes look at it piece by piece, from the inside.

Our approach

Map what is exposed, test it from the outside, and rank each finding by how reachable it is and what it would put at risk — so effort goes where it matters first.

In scope

  • External infrastructure and attack-surface discovery and scanning
  • API security testing
  • Cloud configuration review
  • Findings with reproduction steps and remediation guidance

Monitoring & Resilience

Tie every symptom to the change behind it.

The problem

An outage is rarely one failure. It is a dependency nobody watched, a certificate nobody renewed, a change nobody connected to the symptom that followed it.

Our approach

Check the services payments depend on continuously, from outside your network, and keep one timeline in which symptoms and changes sit side by side.

In scope

  • Availability and latency checks of endpoints and their dependencies
  • Tracking of certificate, DNS and configuration changes
  • Incident timelines that connect symptoms to changes
  • Resilience reporting over time

Compliance & Intelligence

Make decisions you can explain long after you made them.

The problem

Know-your-business checks and risk intelligence arrive from many sources in many formats, while a decision may have to be explained to an auditor or a supervisor years after it was made.

Our approach

Bring the sources together, record what was known at the moment of each decision, and keep the evidence with the decision itself.

In scope

  • Know-your-business (KYB) checks
  • Risk intelligence drawn from multiple sources
  • Decision records that keep their evidence
  • Reporting for audit and oversight
